British Foreign Secretary David Cameron is in Washington on Tuesday to press senior Republicans to unlock money for Ukraine, after meeting a skeptical Donald Trump in Florida.
The U.K.’s Foreign Office confirmed the meeting, which was described as “productive” by the British side.
The U.K. government said it’s “standard practice” for government ministers to meet allied nations’ opposition leaders in election years.

British officials did not say how the meeting went. Cameron and Trump have had several notable differences of opinion in the past. Cameron called Trump’s proposal during his first presidential campaign to ban Muslims from the U.S. “divisive, stupid and wrong.”
In a statement, Trump’s campaign said the meeting was held “to discuss several issues impacting both countries,” including upcoming elections in both Britain and the United States, the implications of Britain’s withdrawal from the European Union, the need for NATO allies to meet their commitments on defense spending and “ending the killing in Ukraine.”

Cameron meets Trump, to urge US Congress to approve Ukraine military aid
British Foreign Secretary David Cameron will urge the United States Congress to pass an aid package for Ukraine after he met Donald Trump, the presumptive Republican nominee for president.
The meeting kicked off a visit by Cameron to the US during which he met Secretary of State Antony Blinken in Washington on Tuesday.

David Cameron’s attempt to persuade Donald Trump to permit the US Congress to push through $60bn in military aid for Ukraine appears to have failed, after the British foreign secretary was not even granted a meeting with congressional speaker Mike Johnson, who could in theory put the package to a vote.
Johnson instead found himself assailed by the hard-right Georgia congresswoman Marjorie Taylor Greene, who renewed her threats of a snap vote to remove him from office for even countenancing a vote.

Dass Cameron hier persönlich aktiv werden muss bedeutet, dass sowohl die Pilgrims Society, wie auch die British Crown Agents, versagt haben.
